Running into a chicken-and-egg problem with calculating fees for unsigned PSBT transactions: to calculate the fee, I need the virtual size of the transaction (let's say I have the fee rate in sats/vB from a 3PBP). To calculate the virtual size of the transaction I need the finalized transaction with change output...which requires knowing the fee. The only solution I can think of is signing a dummy PSBT with a dummy change output, get the virtual size, then sign the real PSBT with the proper change output. It all started half a year ago. Bitcoin Core version 22.0 began to hang on a certain date during the next synchronization attempt. I demolished the entire blockchain. I downloaded version 27.1, started syncing with wallet from August 2024, and the issue was resolved. But the situation repeated on February 2, 2025. Then all my connections were dropped (8-9) and the host embrel computer changed the IP after restarting it. The computers are connected via ethernet, and Bitcoin Core says its still running. I am running a Bitcoin Core node (28.1) and I wish to use it as a server for my wallet. My node is running on a dedicated desktop running Windows 10. It is clearly accepting peer connections (10 peers) but for some reason I can't connect to it from my wallet. Also, no luck using the tool at https://bitnodes.io/nodes/addresses/ . Let's say I have 32 bytes = 64 hex digits private key. Normally, for Bitcoin, I add 0x80 byte before first byte and convert the result to WIF with Base58Check encoding. This gives me 5 at the start of the WIF string. Then I can convert this WIF to public key, later to the address. For Bitcoin all addresses are starting with 1 , 3 or bc1 . I've seen the news that Tether is integrating with bitcoin. But what does this really mean and how does it work? They say there will be both on-chain and lightning transactions. I can see how lightning transactions would happen if on-chain transactions can happen, but how can tether transactions happen on the bitcoin blockchain and how is this connected to the tether network? I could imagine that maybe this is a colored coin kind of thing where the tether network monitors the bitcoin network for cross-network transfers. By accident, one of the nodes (node A) goes offline forever and I lose all access to it, and it just so happens that the channel balance is such that almost all of the satoshi balance is in node A's favor. On the other node (node B), I have an old channel state which is more favorable to node B in terms of channel balance.
