Bitcoin Hashrate Continues Sharp Plunge As Miners Give Up

Image
Data shows the Bitcoin mining hashrate has continued its sharp plunge in the past week, as miners give up due to low revenues. Bitcoin 7-Day Average Mining Hashrate Has Rapidly Gone Down Recently According to the latest weekly report from Arcane Research , a miner capitulation might not have much impact on the price this time. The “ mining hashrate ” is an indicator that measures the total amount of computing power connected to the Bitcoin network. When the value of this metric goes up, it means miners are bringing more machines online right now. Such a trend shows miners are bullish on the crypto in the long term. On the other hand, a decrease in the indicator’s value suggests miners are disconnecting some of their rigs currently. This kind of trend implies miners aren’t finding the blockchain attractive to mine on at the moment. Now, here is a chart that shows the trend in the Bitcoin mining hashrate over the last six months: The value of the metric seems to have been rapidly

Litecoin Whale Withdraws $65.5M In LTC From Binance, Bullish Sign?

The first of these Litecoin transactions involved the movement of 73,794 LTC, worth just under $5.8 million at the time of the transfer. Massive transfers like these usually belong to a single whale , or an entity made up of multiple investors. Depending on the intent behind them, such transactions may have noticeable impacts on the market. Here are some additional details about the transfer that might shed some light on why it was made: Looks like the sender had to pay a negligible fee of 0.00004518 LTC for the coins to go through | Source: Whale Alert As you can see above, the sending address in this case was attached to

Introduction of cryptocurrency payments. Generation of child addresses of a cryptocurrency wallet

There is a task: to introduce payment with bitcoins. I found a way to generate addresses for the same wallet. And now I want to make sure that each user has his own address to which he will send the crypt. And then I know that there is a gap limit - this is when only the first 20 addresses are scanned. I have some questions: Does the gap limit relate to my problems? After all, I generate addresses programmatically myself. What happens if, for example, I connect to my wallet in Trust Wallet? Will I see a crypt on my balance sheet that has arrived at the child addresses? How does Trust Wallet relate to the gap limit? I know so far that Ledger uses a gap limit from Recent Questions - Bitcoin Stack Exchange https://ift.tt/0BSPwna via IFTTT

Can multisig transaction contain two destination addresses beside transaction fee and UTXO?

I understand that "classic" bitcoin multisig transaction contains following parts: 1) Amount sent to another BTC address, 2) fee, 3) UTXO, which can be returned back to original source address or other address (in same HD wallet). I am wondering if the same transaction, that is being signed by multiple parties, can contain more of (1) - more destination addresses. In other words - is it possible that mediator, who has the role of escrow, can charge fee that is paid by the very same transaction that both seller and buyer sign? Dogecoin Remains Solid As Profitability Surpasses Bitcoin, Ethereum

Image
Dogecoin is still a strong contender for the attention of cryptocurrency investors who are chasing assets with the most potential. Larger assets and market leaders such as Bitcoin and Ethereum have often provided this for investors with large profit margins, but with the crypto winter, Dogecoin has seen more upside compared to its larger counterparts. Majority Of DOGE Holders In Profit A bear market is a time when a lot of digital assets plunge in price and their profitability can hit new lows. For bitcoin and Ethereum, it has been a rollercoaster year where it fluctuates between the majority being in profit or loss. This time around, both cryptocurrencies are seeing a large part of their holder base being in losses but the same is not the case for Dogecoin. When Elon Musk had taken over Twitter, it had been a trigger the price of DOGE. The meme coin had rallied more than 100% in a matter of days, peaking at $0.15. Presently, it has lost a good portion of those gains but at $0.08, D

Tim Draper Stands By $250,000 Bitcoin Prediction, Here’s Why

Image
Venture capitalist Tim Draper continues to show staunch support for bitcoin even during this time. Draper who has been an evangelist for bitcoin has said multiple times that he expects the digital asset to hit six figures, and once again, he has taken an opportunity to double down on his predictions. Bitcoin To Reach $250,000 In an interview with Bloomberg, Tim Draper said that he expects the price of bitcoin to actually reach $250,000. His reasoning behind this was that bitcoin has not really trickled down into retail shopping just yet. According to Draper, he believes that when this happens, bitcoin will see the $250,000 price mark, and possibly even higher. Warning a tie sporting the bitcoin symbol, Draper points to the fact that women control 80% of all retail spending, and that it will be this demographic that drives this adoption. He explains that the participation of women in the space was already on the rise with 1 in 6 BTC wallets being owned by women. Then when women star

What is involved in the "database compaction" of a Lightning Network node?

As lightning network channels route payments, channel updates require the 2 channel peers (Alice & Bob) to do a round of signing and trade commitment transactions for the most up-to-date channel balance. Is this the primary reason that the channel.db file may grow so dramatically ? For each update, Alice must keep a full record of all revocation keys from all past commitment transactions in case Bob broadcasts an invalid past channel state. If these keys are deleted, Alice will be vulnerable to Bob stealing money and Alice would not be able to create & broadcast the correct penalty transaction to punish Bob. Database compaction is typically run on startup of the node, but what exactly is involved in that compaction? Are the revocation keys being indexed / compressed in some lossless/recoverable fashion? Do other implementations than LND have the same process? from Recent Questions - Bitcoin Stack Exchange https://ift.tt/iwgtk3I via IFTTT

OpenSea Elects To Maintain Creator Royalty Fees

Image
Amiss the market chaos, there is still room for NFT royalty chatter. OpenSea has announced that creator royalties will maintain as they have been on the marketplace, feeding what seems to be a ‘closing loop’ on what has been a continual hot topic around the NFT community lately. The move comes as OpenSea competitors sought to undercut prices by chopping royalties, leading the NFT platform to reconsider their stance on creator fees in order to stay aggressive in the market. Did the P2SH BIP-0016 make some Bitcoin unspendable?

The P2SH feature currently in use was introduced to Bitcoin in 2012 with BIP-0016 . It was successfully activated on 2012-04-01 with block 173805. The BIP turned a particular "hashlock" locking script pattern ( OP_HASH160 OP_DATA_20 20-byte-value OP_EQUAL ) into a "magical" bytecode pattern which, after authenticating an input's top stack element against the hash then also executes it using Script VM. The BIP references 1 historical transaction that spent from an output that matched the pattern: These new rules should only be applied when validating transactions in blocks with timestamps >= 1333238400 (Apr 1 2012) [1]. There are transactions earlier than 1333238400 in the block chain that fail these new validation rules. [2]. Older transactions must be validated under the old rules. (see the Backwards Compatibility section for details). which made me wonder - are there other, unspent, historical hashlock outputs which may have been made unspendable (if
