Does the Blockchain Recognise a Bitcoin as a Quantity or Does It Work with Satoshi?

I know the question sounds weird, but correct me if my assumptions are wrong.

My understanding is, a Satoshi (Sat) is the minimum transferable quantum in the Blockchain. Am I correct there?

Then, does the quantity of 10^8 Sats (which we call Bitcoin) mean anything special to the Blockchain? Or is it purely a construct for convenience to call that many Sats collectively as one Bitcoin?
