How to see my coins

Bought a Ledger S in 2017, sent various coins to it (through it) then lost the Ledger. Just found the Ledger! My pin works on the Ledger, I see Binance chain, Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, and NEO on the Ledger screen. I've uploaded the latest version of Ledger live, which is very different from what I remember. I am absolutely stumpped on how to use it. Why am I asked to open a new account?
