Help Troubleshooting SeedSigner Setup – No LCD Display

I’m working on setting up a shared SeedSigner for family and friends in Iran and could use some help troubleshooting an issue.

Background:

  • Built a SeedSigner from scratch using a Raspberry Pi 0 2W and followed the official documentation.
  • Sourcing parts was a challenge—I had to travel nearly 1,000 km to find a Waveshare LCD, and the seller charged double the market price due to scarcity. (Side note: If you’re in Iran, supplying these parts could be a great business opportunity and a way to support the cause!)

The Problem:

When I power on the device:

  • The Raspberry Pi’s green LED flashes (seems to respond to Waveshare button presses).
  • No display appears on the LCD—just blank.

What I’ve Tried:

  1. Initially suspected the 4GB SD card was too small, so I switched to a 64GB card—no change.
  2. A friend suggested modifying the config file in the latest release, but I’m skeptical since the official docs don’t mention this.
  3. Now wondering if the Waveshare LCD might be faulty, but I’m not sure how to test it.

Questions:

  • Has anyone encountered this issue before? Any fixes?
  • Is there a way to verify if the LCD is working independently?
  • Could it be a power issue, or is there a specific config tweak I’m missing?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
