Why is my Bitcoin node not receiving incoming Tor connections despite showing as reachable on bitnodes.io?
I'm helping a friend troubleshoot their Bitcoin node setup. He wants to set up a Bitcoin node that's easily accessible via IPv4, I2P and Tor. According to bitnodes.io, both their IP address and onion address show as reachable, but they're not receiving any incoming peer connections.
Setup details:
- Running Bitcoin Core with Tor support enabled
- Node appears reachable on bitnodes.io (both clearnet IP and onion address)
- No incoming Tor connections despite outbound connections working fine
Questions:
- What could cause a node to appear reachable on bitnodes.io but still not receive incoming connections?
- Are there specific Bitcoin Core or Tor configuration issues I should investigate?
- What debugging steps or log entries should I examine to identify the root cause?
Any guidance on troubleshooting this connectivity issue would be greatly appreciated.
