Why should Bitcoin consider implementing post-quantum cryptography now?

With the rapid advancements in quantum computing, the cryptographic algorithms securing Bitcoin may soon be vulnerable. Delaying the implementation of post-quantum cryptography could expose Bitcoin to significant risks, especially if quantum capabilities are achieved sooner than expected.

Qbits is capable of implementing post-quantum cryptography (PQC) as per NIST recommendations, ensuring that Bitcoin remains secure against quantum attacks. We have conducted successful experiments, as detailed in our project: Bitcoin on Quantum Computing.

For more context, here’s a recent post on our progress: Qbits Post on LinkedIn.

What are the potential obstacles or considerations in implementing PQC for Bitcoin now, and how can the community help make this transition smoother?
